About 'From the Bookshelf' The
Bridgeton Journal will publish library columns
from the Bridgeton Public Library and the Cumberland
County Library every other week. Bridgeton Public
Library Director Gail Robinson and Cumberland County
Library Assistant Director Jean Edwards will be
representing the two libraries.
Jean
Edwards:
Edwards is
the assistant director of the Cumberland County Library,
a post she has held for 27 years.
A Bridgeton
resident, Edwards earned her bachelor of science degree
in art history from George Washington University in
1969, a master of arts in art history at Virginia
Commonwealth University in 1973, and a master of library
science from Drexel University in 1976.
She also
holds professional librarian certification.
Edwards'
duties at the Cumberland County Library include
developing policies and procedures, evaluating staff
performances, providing computer instruction classes and
preparing press releases. She has recently
attended personal computer classes in Microsoft
Publisher, Powerpoint, and multimedia techniques.
Gail
Robinson:
A Vineland
High School graduate, Robinson earned a bachelor's
degree in history and a master's degree in library
science from Glassboro State College.
Robinson's
library career began at the Cumberland County Library in
1980. She then worked at the Gloucester County
Libraries before coming to Bridgeton in 1993.
"I was going to become a teacher," Robinson
said, referring to her undergraduate interest in
history. "But I decided if I could do
anything I wanted to, I would want to be a librarian.
