Llamas By Amanda Harman

I got his book because I am really interested in llamas. Llamas are very fascinating animals.  They are fuzzy and beautiful.  I went to a yard sale and I bought a stuffed llama.  Then on the way home, we stopped by a llama farm near our house.  I wanted to learn more from this book. They live in the Andes Mountains.  Their close relative, the vicuna almost was extinct because hunters wanted its beautiful cinnamon colored fur. (In the 1960's there were only 10,000 left.)  By 2002, there were over 250,000 in the wild!

BW, Cedarville   Happy Birthday Little Witch by Deborah Hautzig
This book is about a little witch who has a birthday.  She thinks it will be terrible like last year’s party.  She looks for three friends that she met at Halloween – an astronaut, a pirate, and a devil.  She had a great party because her friends were there and taught her how to play games that she’s never played before.   There wasn’t a lot of excitement in the book but I would recommend it to kids under the age of 10.  It earned 2 out of 5 stars.

KV, 8, Buena   Gerbils and Hamsters by Kathryn Hinds
This book was about the different types of hamsters and gerbils.  I found out about a different type of hamster - the teddy bear hamster.  They have lots and lots of fur.  They are fuzzy, too. If I get a hamster, I would get one of them.  They didn't have as much information about gerbils as hamsters.  I did find out that you should keep two gerbils in the same cage so that they don't get lonely.
