This book is about an animal shelter in trouble and the ways people try and succeed in doing so. It is a good book.

Beagle in a Backpack by Ben M. Baglio
This book is about a girl named Mandy Hope who's parents are vets. Mandy's dream is to become a vet just like her parents.When Mandy finds out a girl and a puppy are missing she checks every day to see if there is any word from them. A group of people including Mandy do a search around a farm where Mandy saw a sign of the missing girl and her puppy. Soon they find her and get her back home safely.

Mouse Magic by Ben M. Baglio
There is a school play scheduled and Amy wants to have her pet mouse, Minnie to be in the play.   However, there is no part for Minnie and Amy sprains her ankle.  Then, the wizard of the play, James, doesn’t know any magic tricks so he has to learn from a local magician.  The show goes on and is a success.  I would recommend this book for people who like animals because there are a lot of animals in the story.   5 out of 5 stars.

Stanley's Party is a story about Stanley. He is not supposed to sit on the couch and he does. Read this book to find out more. Stanley is a dog.

Jeremy's Tail is a story about Jeremy trying to pimn the tail on the donkey. And all of a sudden there was a boom. Read this book to find out more.

Sponge Bob Square Pant's Sandy's Rocket by Steve Banks
One day Sandy, a squirrel who lives near the ocean, gets a space ship to go to the moon. Her friend Sponge Bob comes alonand begs to come. She says yes and they leave to go to sleep for the night. When he is almost asleep, Patrick, another friend of Spong Bob, comes to give him a bottle of alien repellent. So they sneak to Sandy's house to spray it down. . They go inside and accidently launch into space. When they land the  moon looks like an exact replica of Bikini Beach (where they live). Inside the ship are guns which capture the targets into nets. Finally they are done capturing all the aliens Sandy comes. They show her what they caught. To their surprise they never left Earth. So no everyone is yelling at Sponge Bob, "Sponge Bob!". I would recommend this book to kids who like funny comedy. Now that you know what this book is about, why not read it for yourself.

Fairyopolis is about a woman who has many encounters with fairies. She keeps all her information about fairies in a notebook. It looks just like someone's scrapbook - there are even letters that you take out envelopes to read. If you like fairies, this is the book for you!
 SW,8, Millville   Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball by Judi Barrett.
There is a town where food falls from the sky. That is how people eat. Something terrible begins to happen. It is a great book.
 SW,8, Millville   The Water Hole by Graeme Base.
This book counts to ten and is about the different animals who come to the hole to drink. It dries up but rain comes and starts it again.
 KV,8,Buena   Hungry Plants By Mary Batten
This book talks about the many types of carnivorous plants.  My favorite is the Venue Fly Trap because it's active, which means that it moves.  It has nectars inside and little hairs on the outside.  When two hairs are touched, the trap shuts, catching the bug inside.  It takes one week to eat the fly.  The drawings in this book were very good.
NP, Millville   Throw your Tooth On the Roof by Selby Beeler
The name of the book is "Throw your Tooth on the roof". I didn't Like it at all! It's about kid's who have different ways to do a way with it.
NT, Millville   Programmed for Terror by Carol Behrman.
I liked the book because it really sounds scary. Judi, the girl in the book, is having scary problems with her computer. Someone or something is changing what she writes and adds terrifying threats. Then soon she realizes her computer is "Programmed for Terror!"
KV,8,Buena   George the Drummer Boy by Nathaniel Benchley
This book is about how the British viewed the beginning of the Revolutionary War. It was pretty interesting because it made you feel like you were really their in Concord when the war started. I think Veterans or anyone who is interested in learning about the Revolutionary War would like this book.
Student from Holly Heights School,  Millville   A Ghost Named Fred by Nathaniel Benchley
It is about a boy who had no friends.  One day he wondered away from home and it started to rain.  He found an old abandoned house and went into it.  While in the house he befriended a ghost named Fred.  Fred was very nice to the boy and helped him find a treasure that he had lost.  With Fred's help, the treasure was found in an old umbrella. I thought the story was neat because the boy and the Fred got along very well and became good friends.

The Sun Our Very Own Star by Jeanne Bendick

This book is about the sun and how it helps us during the day.  I wanted to learn about the sun because I have always been interested in outer space.  Now that I have read this book, I am very satisfied with what I have learned from it.  Fore example, the sun has dark spots (sun spots) that come and go.  No one really knows why they form.

It is a funny book. The father always does something wrong and the son does it right.
KV, Buena   The Coughing Catfish by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Sister and Brother Bear find out that the water in Grizzly Lake is being polluted.  With Professor Actual Factual, they stop the polluting.  To find out how, read this book.
KV, Buena   The Messy Room by Stan and Jan Berenstain
It is about how Sister and Brother Bear keep their room messy, so they have to fix everything up or Mama Bear will throw everything away.  Do they give in and clean, or does Mama Bear follow through with her threat?

Brother Bear keeps teasing Sister Bear. Sister Bear does not like it! But Too Tall and His friends do the same thing. Will he stop or not?!

This book is about strange deep sea creatures.  I learned that sea creatures can do strange things to survive.  One walked on three fins that he used as legs!  This book is interesting because there are so many creatures deep in the ocean that look like monsters.

Sam and Bam are very special monkeys. They live at the Blue Sky Rocket Base. Sam got to go in the rocket.

The Buried Treasure by Djemma Bider

A dying man tells his three sons to take care of his garden.  The three sons do not like doing a lot of work.  The father also told them that there was treasure buried in the garden, so they began to dig.  They work for years planting seeds to make the garden look better after all of their holes from digging. Finally they understand what the treasure is - do you know?  Read this book and then you will know, too.

I liked this book some. My favorite part was when Winnie the Pooh was visiting Rabbit, and Pooh wished that Rabbit grew honey instead of carrots.

I like this book. My favorite story was the first one, "Sir Gawain & the Green Knight."
 KV, Buena   Jane Goodall and the Wild Chimpanzees by Betty Birnbaum
It is Jane's dream to study wild animals.  When she gets a chance to study them, they are no where to be found.  They hide from her, but she doesn't give up.  She is a famous scientist today and even has TV specials.
 KM, Millville   Oh, Bother Someone's Messy by Betty Birney
Oh, Bother Someone's Messy is a Winnie the Pooh story about Roo's messy room.
 NT, Millville   The Wind in the Willows by Michael Bishop 
All the nine stories in the book are made easy to understand by the help of colorful pictures. It is fun to read about the friends getting in trouble and helping each other out of it..
 KH, Millville   The Littlest Matryoshka by Corinne Bliss 
In Russia a man named Nikoli makes dolls and he made six matryoshkas. He made six because he thought it was a lucky number. The Matryoshkas got shipped to America and their names were Anna, Olga, Varka, Vanda, Nadia, and Nina. When they got shipped they put Nina inside Nadia and Nadia inside Vanda and Vanda inside Varka and Varka inside Olga and Olga  inside Anna. Nina got lost and a girl bought the rest. Nina got caught by many animals and the girl found her and they were all united again.
 NT, Millville   The Royal Nap by Charles Black 
I don't like this story because in the castle it was to noisy and the King couldn't sleep. I learned about this story that when someone is sleeping don't make lots of noise.
 KV, Buena   Squanto by Sonia Black
Squanto was an Indian who helped the Pilgrims when they arrived in the New World.  He was very smart and kind.  He helped the Pilgrms by showing them how to grow vegetables.  I like reading books about Indians.
 SB, 9, Millville   Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great By Judy Blume
This book is about a city girl named Sheila who spends her summer in Tarrytown, the country. Sheila is afraid of spiders, dogs, the dark, and swimming. In the country, she sees lots of spiders, the nights are dark, there's a dog at the house, and she has to take swimming lessons. Sheila is in for a rough time! 
 JV,  Millville   Fudge-a-Mainia By Judy Blume
This book is about a boy named Peter Hatcher and his brother named Farley "Fudge" Hatcher. The story's setting is in Maine. I like this book because it is funny. But, Peter's brother is 5 and he is 10. So he has to deal with hiis brother.
 HM, Millville   The Sloths Get a Pet by Meribeth Boelts
This book is about getting a pet and taking care of your pets. I think kids will like this book because it is funny.
 KV,8, Buena   Dolphins! by Sharon Bokoske and Margaret Davidson
This book is about how dolphins can become our friends.  Dolphins can learn sign language.  Dolphins have a good memory.  They can even be used to rescue people in the water. It was very interesting.
 KV, Buena   The Case of the Cat's Meow by Crosby Bonsall
A little boy loves his cat.  One day he wakes up and the cat is gone.  His brother's Private Eye Club tries to find where the cat is.  Will they find it? This has a funny and surprising ending.
 WG, Millville   Generosity: The Gift adapted by Jennifer Boudart
This book was a funny book, because the brother and the sister sold their favorite things to get gifts for the other. The sister sold her binoculars to get a kite tail for her brother. The brother sold his kite to get a binocular case for his sister.
 AA, 7, Millville   The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton
All of the animal friends went to take a bath in one big tub. After their bath they hang their towels on the wall, get their pajamas, brushed their teeth and went upstairs to exercise. Now the day is done and it is time for bed.
 
 JP, Millville   Everyone Ready? by Franz Brandenberg,
In the beginning of the story no one was ready. Annette hadn't brushed her hair, Bertrand couldn't find his glasses, Colette had to wash a milk spot off her dress, Daniel didn't have his shoes on, Esther's hair ribbon wouldn't tie, Ferdinand had to go to the bathroom, and Mother Field Mouse's left earring had come loose. There was only four minutes till the train left. The children's parents got left behind. In middle of the story Ferdinand locked himself into the bathroom. Esther had to get him out. When the conductor had to get their tickets they didn't have any so Uncle Alkert had to pay. They got their parents and they all went to Uncle Alkert for dinner and they also spent the night there. You should read this book because it is very entertaining.
 KV,8, Buena   Scruffy: A Wolf Finds His Place in the Pack by Jim Brandenburg.
A man is supposed to take photographs for National Geographic, but he can't get his eyes off this wolf pack.  He just keeps studying them and taking pictures.  I learned some very important things.  The head wolf is called the alpha wolf and he always eats first.  Scruffy is in one of the lowest ranks that a wolf can get, but he has a very important job - to take care of the pups.  It is a very good true story.
 SW,8, Millville   The Last Basselope by Berkeley Breathed.
A boy and his friends go looking for the last basselope, which is a ferocious dog with glowering blue antlers and who ears dandelion seeds. This is a very good book.
 SB, 9, Millville   101 Facts About Horses by James Brent.
This book has many facts about horses. For example, it has what most horses like to eat, and what some body signals mean. This book also shows which horse is the slowest and which racehorse is the fastest.
 NT,11, Bridgeton   Technology by Roger Bridman.
This is a very cool book about the different advances in technology.
 AM,12, Millville   Arthur and the Cootie-Catcher by Marc Brown.
Arthur and the Cootie-Catcher is a story about Arthur and his friends thinking that they have to listen to this cootie-catcher. Will they listen to it forever? Read this book to find out.
 AA, 7, Millville   Arthur Babysits by Marc Brown.
Arthur has to babysit the Tibble twins. The twins are a little trouble for Arthur. Then he tells them a scary story and they like to listen to it. Mrs. Tibble said that Arthur can babysit anytime.
 NT, Millville   Arthur's Computer Disaster by Marc Brown.
I like this book because it teaches me that I should listen to my parents, even when I really want to do something. I also like the illustration because it is really pretty. That's why I like the book!
 NT,10, Bridgeton   Arthur goes to Camp by Marc Brown.
This book is about when Arthur, Buster and The Brain go to Camp Meadowcrock. Another camp called Camp Horsewater is right next to their camp. The teenagers at Camp Horsewater are not very nice to Arthur and his friends.
 JD,10, Fairton   Arthur rocks with Binky by Marc Brown.
Arthur goes to a concert and he finds out his seat is all the way in the back. All of his friends seats are up front. One day the band comes to Arthur's house.  Arthur was shocked when he saw who was standing right in front of him. See if Arthur ever gets a closer seat to the stage.
 AA, 7, Millville   Arthur's Underwear by Marc Brown.
Arthur keeps having dreams that he forgets to put his pants on before school. Buster tells Arthur not to fall asleep, that way he can't have anymore bad dreams. It doesn't work. Then Arthur really rips his pants in the cafeteria and everyone laughs, but at least he doesn't have anymore bad dreams.
 BW, Cedarville   Arthur Tricks the Tooth Fairy by Marc Brown.
In spite of the title it is really DW who tricks the tooth fairy. It was a good book and I especially liked it when DW jumped on Arthur's bed and sang, " I tricked the Tooth Fairy!  I tricked the Tooth Fairy!"  This would be a good book for kids who are losing their teeth.  I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.
 AM, 12, Millville   Buster Makes the Grade by Marc Brown.
Buster Makes the Grade is on how buster has to get a "B" on his test or will have to stay back in 3rd grade. Will he get a "B" and move to "4" grade. Read the book and find out.
 JV, Millville   Buster Makes the Grade by Marc Brown.
In this hilarious book, Buster, who is not very smart, is studying hard and the kids do not know why. Buster has to get a "B" or higher on the next test or he gets held back a grade. Find out when you read the book.
 BW, Cedarville   Buster Plays Along by Marc Brown.
This is about Buster who meets a girl who plays an instrument.  He makes a videotape of things that he sees in Texas including the girl.  He plays an accordion with the girl.  This would be a good book for people who like instruments.  I would give it five stars out of five.
 TK, Millville   D.W. Flips by Marc Brown.
D.W., Arthur's the aardvark's winsome litte sister wants to do flips. So Mrs. Read takes her to a class where she does flips. At first D.W. doesn't know how to do. She kept on falling. Miss Goody Toe Shoes Emily showed off like always. D.W. tried and tried at her house, in her room, the laundry room, and stores. When she went back to the class, she did the flips better than Emily.

D.W. takes gymnastics lessons because she wants to learn how to do flips. First she learns how to do a forward roll. D.W. thinks it will be easy but it's not. She practices every night, and everywhere. At the next class D.W. shows her teacher the forward roll. Then it is time to try something new -  backward rolls!

The Battle of Gettysburg by Michael Burgen
I liked this book because it told me a lot about the times of the Civil War. It was informative and had in depth looks at some of the main people involved in the Battle of Gettysburg.

 SW,8, Millville   Space Rock by Jon Buller and Susan Schade.
This is a cool book about a boy who finds a rock from outer space but he learns that it is more than a rock.
 KV,8, Buena   20,000 Baseball Card Under the Sea by Jon Buller and Susan Schade
A boy named Roger has a friend named Kenneth who likes to invent things.  He invents a homemade submarine.  When they talk about their troubles, he says that his house payment has gone up.  Next, they both go down under the sea in the submarine.  There, Kenneth has a shed filled with junk.  He tells Roger that he can have anything in the shed.  He finds baseball cards that are worth more than $3000.  Will he keep them or help Kenneth.  Read this book to find out.
 NT, Millville   Wednesday Surprise by Eve Bunting.
I like the story because I liked the girl named Anna because she helped her grandmother learn to read and I learned from the story is when somebody doesn't know how to do something and you do then you should help them.
 KV, 8, Buena   Sara Raccoon's Secret Place by Margaret Burdick
A little raccoon names Sara wants to be alone with her doll.  She finds a very secret place to play with her doll - in a tree!  She decorates it like a little house.  When her friend finds out, she gets angry.  Then there is a flood that ruins her little house.  When she sees her friends on the shore, will he forgive her and rescue her?
 GC, Millville   Skateboarding: Surf the Pavement by L.M. Burke.
The book that I read was Skateboarding: Surf the Pavement. I chose this book because I am really into skateboarding. The book was about the history of skateboarding and how to ride it. I liked this book because I learned some important things like treating bruises and using your head.
 KV, Buena   The Golly Sisters Go West by Betsy Byars
The Golly Sisters go west by covered wagon to put on shows.  They fuss over everything.  Once they argued about who should go on stage first,  By the time they sorted everything out, the only thing left of the audience was a group of dogs.  It is a very funny book and I think you should read it.
