The
Cumberland County Library lower level
meeting room can be booked during
regular library hours without a fee by
calling the Cumberland County Library at
453-2210. Ask for Administrative
Secretary and/or Library Director.
The
following groups and organizations (in
order of preference) may schedule
meetings on a first-come, first-serve
basis:

Cumberland
County Library.
-
Cumberland
County Government and adjunct
agencies.
-
Other
Governmental agencies.
-
Non-profit
groups. (Must submit
application and proof of non-profit
status if requested (501c3)).
Interpretation of non-profit status
and other application arrangements
may be brought to the attention of
the Cumberland County Library
Commission if necessary.
Regulations:
The
meeting room shall not be used for
commercial purposes. Exceptions
may be made for such events as art
exhibits, where price tags may be
displayed on exhibited items. No
employee of the Library or member of the
Library Board shall participate in any
financial transactions involving
exhibited items.
The
meeting rooms may not be used for
religious or partisan political
purposes.
Application
for usage shall be made to the Library
Director or Administrative Secretary on
forms to be provided by the library.
The meeting room must be used only for
the purposes set forth in the
application.
The
application shall be made prior to the
date requested.
There
should be no charge to library-sponsored
or library related organizations.
No gratuities may be paid to any library
employee for utilization of the meeting
room.
The
individual signing the application for a
meeting room must be over 18 years of
age and must agree to be individually
legally responsible for all damage to
any property of the library resulting
from the negligence, carelessness, or
willful acts of many member, officer,
employee, agent or of any of the
invitees utilizing the room during the
hours reserved on the application.
The
organization shall be responsible for
setting up and taking down of chairs.

for set-up)
Smoking
is not allowed in the entire library.
No
activities will be permitted in the
library that will interfere with the
normal activities of the library.
This restriction refers to both the size
of the group and to any sounds that
might be disturbing.
No
grant of permission to use library
property shall carry with it any right
to exclude members of the Board of
Trustees or Board.
The
meeting room may not be reserved for
regularly scheduled meetings (i.e.,
monthly or more frequent). The
Library reserves the right to cancel.
If
the use is for an organization composed
primarily of children, there shall be at
least one adult in attendance during the
time reserved for the use of the room
for every 15 children present.
No
alcoholic beverages may be served.
Simple refreshments may be served
provided that those conducting the
meeting take full responsibility for
cleaning afterwards. No
refreshments may be served without the
prior written approval of the Library
Director or Administrative Secretary.
Meetings
must adjourn at least 15 minutes before
the Library's scheduled closing time.
The
Cumberland County Library, Cumberland
County Government, employees and
Commission shall not be responsible for
any accidents, loss of personal
property, etc., occurring as a result of
the utilization of the meeting room.
Granting
of permission to use the library's
meeting room does not imply endorsement
of the aims, policies, or programs of
any group or organization.
Publicity for meetings must not give the
impression that the program is
sponsored, co-sponsored or approved by
the Library.
If
these rules and regulations are violated
by any group, the group is subject to
the revocation of its privileges for
future meeting room use at the
discretion of the Library Commission of
the Cumberland County Library.
